The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald - 1408 Words

The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald encounters challenges within different social classes, specifically amongst the rich and the poor. During the early 1920’s, a persons’ social class would heavily impact how their daily lives were structured. In the novel, Gatsby’s character originally comes from a poor family, and he maneuvers his way up the social hierarchy in order to impress the girl of his dreams, Daisy Buchanan. Daisy on the other hand, was born into a family of wealth, which is a result of her never having to work for her societal reputation. Daisy’s attitude also reflects her social status and this continues to unfold as her character develops. In The Great Gatsby, the motif of color reiterates itself on numerous occasions,†¦show more content†¦Ã¢â‚¬Å"You always have a green light that burns all night at the end of your dock† (Fitzgerald 92). In this passage, Gatsby is talking to Daisy about her house and how he can see it every night. This shows the reader that Gatsby pays very close attention to Daisy and he notices subtleties about her life. The fact that Gatsby knows the light where Daisy lives burns all night means that he has stayed up at least once watching the light all night long. Gatsby’s persistence to win Daisy over is evident in this passage and he wants Daisy to see how much he desires her attention. This whole image Gatsby has in his head of himself and Daisy is truly unrealistic especially because she is married and Gatsby knows that. Gatsby will wait up all night long gazing at Daisy’s dock light, yet she does not reciprocate the same intense emotions that Gatsby is pouring out to her. His unattainable future remains, as he still attempts to win Daisy over, even though she is already married to someone else. Gatsby believes in this green light, in a similar way that he believes in Daisy; that she will leave her husband in order to spend the rest of her days with Gatsby. The gr een light shines all night and Daisy is present all day, this represents the amount of time Gatsby spends thinking about Daisy, which is all day and all night. In addition to the color green, yellow, shows the symbolism of Daisy’s ignorance and attitude towards society. Daisy knows that Gatsby is all over

Implications Of The Thesis How Flx Affect Neural...

In this study, one of the most common prescribed SSRIs, FLX will be utilized. SSRIs block the reuptake of 5-HT thereby increasing the extracellular concentration of 5-HT in the synaptic cleft available thereby altering normal synaptic and neural function. Due to the fact that monoamines and monoamine metabolism is essential and obligatory for normal neural development this proposal will focus on how FLX affect neural development using the following approaches. Clutches of embryos will be staged according to Townsend and Stewart [TS 1-15; 1 = newly laid egg, 15 = hatching] (67). FLX will be dissolved in culture water (40% DDW and 60% tap water) at different concentrations [(experimental embryo cultures- EEC) 0.10  µM, 0.20  µM, 100  µM,†¦show more content†¦Hensler (2002) demonstrated in rats that were chronically injected (ip) with FLX showed a decrease 5-HT1A expression in the raphe nuclei. Further, 5-HT2B receptors have been shown to be involved in brain development (Lin et al., 2004) particularly in migrating cranial neural crest cells in the mouse (Choi et al., 1997). Moiseiwitsh and Lauder (1995) also showed that 5-HT has a dose-dependent effect on cranial neural crest migration, suggesting that neural crest migration is disrupted at high concentrations. Silva et al. (2010) demonstrated that postnatal FLX treatment in rats decreased the number of serotonin and serotonergic terminals in the dorsal raphe nuclei; sugge sting neuroplasticity dysfunction causes impaired development of the serotonergic system. The c-Fos-immunoreactivity (c-Fos-IR), in response to cellular intra- or extracellular signals, is a useful tool and has been used by many scientists to detect specific brain regions that regulate neurotransmissions. Immunohistochemistry will also be undertaken using c-Fos primary antisera to determine c-Fos during hypothalamic development. Changes in c-Fos-IR have been demonstrated in animals and in vitro studies after a chronic or acute FLX treatment. For example, acute treatment of rats with antidepressants displayed increased c-Fos expression in 59 of 64 brain structures. Interestingly, FLX did not induce c-Fos expression in the raphe nuclei but significant upregulation of

Answer: Introduction: The report aims at providing a deep insight into the marketing strategy and plan of a firm dealing with fresh vegetable and fruits. The firm that is highlighted here is Dole Food Company Inc. This is an American based agricultural MNC, with its headquarters at Westlake village, California. 1. Target Market: Dole manufactures food items such as pineapples, strawberries, bananas, grapes, salads and other frozen fruits and juices. Dole has mainly targeted the young people and the college students of America for their marketing strategy (Government of Alberta, 2015). There is an evidence of the poor nutritional quality of food sold to children and as a result of this, several companies in America have pledged through a program called Childrens food and beverage advertising for betterment of food for children. 2. Benefits of the Opportunity: The target market will remain the same the juice will grow with them. Buying at a younger age will ensure the prolonged stay of the juices in the market and it will result into a steady growth of revenue for the company (Government of Alberta, 2015).. America has been struggling with problems such as obesity and diabetes in the last few decades. For this individual mainly young people are now more conscious about a healthier but still a tastier lifestyle. Naked Juice is the choice of young people of America today. Beyond that a healthier lifestyle is becoming synonymous to a higher standard of life nowadays. Having the target market as the young college goers is a positive setback as they are the people who want an established higher standard of living in the society Size of Target Market Segment: The size of the target market segment is considered to be large as the youth population is on a growth every year ever since after 2011 in the United States (Daily Times, 2015).. Most of the Americans do not have healthy skin which is due to the lack of vitamin A for which the skin conscious people of America are demanding more fruits like Papaya, Fruits that are rich in antioxidants can also help prevent cancer. This would give an additional boost to the company. References: Daily Times,. (2015). Fruits and vegetables export : Exploration of new markets proves beneficial.
